I have the honour to request that a conveyance allowance of Seventy-five dollars per month may be made to the Deputy Registrar of Companies, Shanghai. This officer being a supernumerary it has not been found possible to provide him with official quarters in the Consulate Compound, and he has in consequence been obliged to move his establishment to quarters at a considerable distance from the Consulate (where his office

is situated). His house rent is paid out of Consular funds, and it is submitted that the charge of his conveyance, which will be used for visits necessary in the course of his duties, might properly be defrayed by Your Excellency's Government.

I have, etc..

(SD.) E. H. Fraser,

Consul General and

Registrar of Companies.
